In addition to the hubbub of activity last week as literally the who's who of the tackle industry descended on Las Vegas for the annual ICAST Show, many of our Yamamoto Pro-Staffers were busily preparing for journeys of their own. They were preparing to compete in one, or in the case of Lee Bailey, Jr. and Takahiro Omori, both of the two biggest shows in the bass fishing world, the Bassmaster Classic, and the FLW Championship, the Jacobs Cup. One-time BASS winner Bailey finished in 22nd place in the Bassmaster Tour Angler of the Year Race and 41st place in the FLW Tour, good for his first trip to the FLW Championship and his second Classic berth. Three-time BASS winner and one time FLW Tour winner Omori finished 7th in the Bassmaster Tour Angler of the Year Race and 11th in the FLW Tour, qualifying him for his third trip to the Classic and fifth trip to the FLW Championship. Bailey and Omori are two of less than a dozen pros to have ever qualified for both championships in the same year - consistency, yes.dogged determination, undoubtedly. Joining Bailey and Omori this year at the Bassmaster Classic are two-time BASS winner Art Ferguson III making his fourth trip to the Classic, Brett Hite competing in his second Classic, Ben Matsubu making his maiden voyage to the Classic, one-time BASS winner John Murray making his third Classic appearance, and twenty-year tour veteran Bernie Schultz who is competing in his seventh Classic. Joining the dynamite duo of Bailey/Omori at the FLW Championship and vying for the Jacobs Cup is Yamamoto Pro Tom Mann, Jr., making his fifth trip to the FLW Tour Championship. All totaled there are eight Team Yamamoto Pro-Staffers competing in ten championship berths - I can hardly contain my pride and excitement for this great group of competitors. The Bassmaster Classic begins July 30th. The FLW Tour Championship begins August 11th. Good Fishin' Jerry Puckett __________________________________________________
