Team Yamamoto - International

Beverly Yamamoto - Athens, TX

Mississippi native Beverly Yamamoto is an international bass fishing competitor, partnering with husband Gary Yamamoto. When not tossing a Senko in Spain, Mexico or exotic locations like Zimbabwe, Africa, Beverly splits her time between their Wagyu cattle operations (Yamamoto Custom Beef headquartered at the couple's BK Ranch in Texas), duties as VP of Gary Yamamoto Custom Baits and Director of International Marketing. Beverly is justifiably proud of her 2nd place win with husband Gary in Europe's biggest tournament, the Caspe Bass International Classic in Spain in 1999; 12th place and big bass honors in 2000; and 3rd place in 2001.

Joan Arnal - Spain

Joan Arnal is a well known outdoor writer in Spain, and an avid tournament angler. Since childhood, Joan has been interested in all kind of sports, skiing, fishing, football (soccer), and also running with the bulls. But after some trouble with the big "toros", he decide to focus only with largemouth bass fishing. Bass can be aggressive, Joan says, but you are always safe!

Joan was just 22 years old when he won the Carl Davis Memorial international trophy and also took second that same season in the European Bass International Tournament. That was when Joan started dreaming about one day competing in the United States, which he did during the 2002 International B.A.S.S. World Cup inaugural event.

Kim Bain - Australia

Lionel Botha - South Africa

An avid amateur soccer player, Lionel Botha has been playing soccer since the age of 6, which is the reason why his bass fishing career started so late. Currently, Lionel plays in the Veterans League ("over 35's") and has been top goal scorer for the past two years. Prior to this, he played in the amateur first division side for many years. As far as his fishing career, Lionel started fishing in 1989 and began competitive fishing in 1994. He has made the Provincial team for the past 7 years, and he's won the B.A.S.S. Federation National Championships twice (1999 and 2001).

South Africa being so far away and all, Lionel says, "As you may imagine, it is very difficult to acquire the best quality baits in the world, which I believe Gary Yamamoto baits to be. Most of the time our suppliers do not even have stock, which is good for me, not so good for my competitors!"

Gerry Jooste - Zimbabwe

Gerry Jooste has fished the Bass Masters Classic 3 times (1994, 1995, 1997) and Gerry's fished the B.A.S.S. Federation National Championships 5 times: 1994, 1995, 1997, 1999 and most recently in 2002. Owner of Ruffnek Boats, a bass boat manufacturing company in Zimbabwe, Ruffnek supplies fully rigged bass boats to Central and Southern Africa. The company is also main agent in Central Africa for Johnson and Evinrude outboard motors.

Daryl Quinton - South Africa

Hirokazu Kawabe - Japan

Hiro Kawabe's blood type is A, as is his personality. His hobbies are surfing and winning bass tournaments: 3rd in '01 JB World Pro series, Lake Sameura; 3rd in '01 JB series, Lake Kawaguchi; 2nd in '00 JB Japan Super Bass Classic; 1st in '99 JB World Pro series, Lake Biwa; 1st in '99 Basser All Star Classic; 2nd in '98 Basser All Star Classic; 1st in '96 Basser All Star Classic; 6th in '95 U.S. Open, Lake Mead; 1st in '94 JB series, Lake Kitaura.
