Judy Wong Goes To
The White House

Pete Robbins - Inside Line Staff WriterBy Pete Robbins

03/26/08

The mainstream fishing press has reported extensively on yesterday's visit by Alton Jones and Judy Wong to the White House, but a critical Yamamoto connection may have been overlooked.  In addition to the American Rodsmiths signature series rod that Judy gave President Bush, she also brought him an original painting she had made, depicting a leaping bass.

The President immediately recognized the lure in the fish's mouth as a Yamamoto Senko, and proceeded to discuss various methods of rigging the bait.  Wong talked about when she uses a Texas-rigged Senko and the President asked her about "how you rig it with a hook in the middle," at which point the WBT champ gave him a brief seminar on wacky-rigging.

Wong also reminded the President that Gary and Beverly Yamamoto had been his guests at a state dinner in 2007.
