Yamamoto's Fat Baby Craw

By Art Ferguson

My ultimate go-to Yamamoto product that has seen the most action these past couple seasons is hand’s down the “Fat Baby Craw” (3FS-series).

This lure has the most realistic claws/pinchers I’ve seen on a plastic lure. I use it the majority of the time as a trailer to my jigs; football and finesse jigs primarily.

My company, Provider Tackle, has come out this season with some great jigs and the Fat Baby Craw is such a compliment to them. I caught big bass (7-2) at Lake Wheeler last season with a finesse jig tipped with these craws during the FLW Series event there. I also caught big bass (6-4) last year at Lake Norman doing the same thing on a finesse jig.

I prefer to use these in clear to slightly stained water conditions where the “look” of a bait is as important as the volume or vibration/movement of the bait. Again, these are the most life like claws on the market. They are the PERFECT size imitation of most crawfish around the country.

I find the same to be true with a football jig fishing deeper water in clear water. Fish don’t always want something with a lot of motion. The legs just react to the way you choose to work the bait. If a crawfish is slowly kicking itself around on the bottom, a dragging technique is perfect over cover and the natural look will surely attract the most finicky bass or aggressive fish in the lake!

The other option is simply Texas-rigged or used on a Shakey head. It’s very natural looking on it’s own and a killer on beds as well.

Flip, drag, cast, crawl these Fat Baby Craws by Gary Yamamoto Custom Baits and it will add weight to your limits.
